Treasure has been unearthed on the streets of Manchester and a new whip-smart, street-savvy voice of late-teen thrills, spills and taken chances emerges in the shape of Alex Spencer and his debut single, A Night To Waste. Those in the know already know him. Passers-by, his home city’s street communities and fellow musicians have long had sight and sound of Spencer’s young, go-getting, tale-telling talents and now the combustible, open secret is ready to ignite as the busking school-leaver’s first recordings find their way into the world.
Stepping up to the mic away from his natural stage in the open air and in a recording studio for the first time, Spencer has taken up arms with artist and producer, Adam French after signing with leading, star-making indie, Modern Sky (The Lathums, Crawlers, Brooke Combe). Ready to tour into summer with a full band in tow, the 16-year-old’s debut single bubbles with energy as the lyrics handle the frustrations of ever being held back.
Striving independently to establish his name, Spencer has already received significant support from influential areas of the music world including exposure on-air with Radio X. Listeners have voted with their downloads and streams as early, self-released singles climbed to the top of the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart.
Spencer has already enjoyed the thrill of playing to an arena audience, performing his songs in front of 20,000 music fans at Manchester’s AO Arena
